Foreign Rights
Most of our titles "travel well," as they say in the book publishing business, as evidenced by our excellent track record in selling foreign translation and English reprint rights to many of our titles. We have one or more books translated into Spanish, French, Dutch, Korean, simple and complex Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, and Russian, with more foreign language translations in preparation as well as English reprints in several countries including Australia and the UK (as of March 2005).
Our foreign rights are sold through our network of highly-regarded foreign agents in most major territories; in territories where we are not represented by a foreign co-agent, we deal directly with the publishing company's foreign rights manager.
We try to attend at least one international publishing trade show a year, sometimes attending two or three shows including the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany in October, the London Book Fair in the UK in March, and the BookExpo in May or June in the United States in rotating locations, as well as selectively representing one or more titles in the international trade show co-op exhibit organized by Publishers Marketing Association (PMA).
The foreign rights for Jan Yager's book, When Friendship Hurts (Simon & Schuster, Inc., Fireside Books, 2002), are also being handled by Hannacroix Creek Books, Inc. and its network of foreign co-agents. So far the book has been sold to 16 foreign publishers for translation into 15 languages in more than 20 countries including Spanish, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, simple and complex Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Portuguese.
