Jan Yager, Ph.D., sociologist, author, speaker, coach, and publisher, began Hannacroix Creek Books, Inc. in 1996. She had already been published by such major publishers as Scribner’s, Doubleday, Facts on File, and Prentice Hall. In addition to running her independent publishing company, Jan continues to be published by other houses including Simon & Schuster, Inc. and Sterling Publishing Co. Jan started her career in publishing, in addition to freelance writing for magazines and newspapers, working at Macmillan publishing company and then at Grove Press.
This blog is Jan’s place to selectively publish her research and thoughts about the publishing industry, her own independent press, Hannacroix Creek, and its authors and illustrators, as well as in her areas of expertise which range from friendship, work relationships, business, and time management to health topics including sleep and food/diet. Jan’s also written or co-authored a couple of novels and poems. She has a three-act play, “Between Friends,” that she is looking forward to seeing on stage as well as her screenplays, co-authored with husband Fred Yager.
Jan has a Ph.D. in sociology and an M.A. in criminal justice. A prolific writer of more than 25 books translated into 20+ languages, Jan coaches, or leads seminars, on book promotion, foreign rights, and writing a book and getting a book published.
